Recent Work by Sophie Garratt
Sophie's most recent project has been paintings of the Tresco and Bryher Gig 'CZAR' that was restored on the Isles of Scilly over the winter on 2008. Some of the original Cornish elm planking that was replaced has been salvaged and Sophie is using it as a 'canvas' for paintings of the Czar itself.
Paintings consisting of a single plank measure approx 12" x 4". Sophie has just completedand a larger scale version, 12" x 17" consisting of three planks laid flush together. the planking still retains worn away remnants of the Czar's red and white paint that adds to the character and authenticity of this unique run of work. The finished painting is varnished with 2 coats of satin clear varnish which not only preserves the paint and the plank but adds richness to the colour and grain of the historic wood. The pieces are extremely limited as once the planks are gone - they're gone!
If you are interested in purchasing one of these limited edition artworks that hold so much history please visit our online shop using this link:

The artwork can be framed due to the thinness of the elm planking or it can hang as an unframed piece with a picture cord attached to the back of the wood.
